Well huh. Octoprint isnt running.
Try
/etc/init.d/octoprint start
But on reboot it should start anyway
You can check logs in mebe /config/oprint/logs or something and see why it didnt start

It refuses to work. Started the octoprint daemon with the command you gave me (said [OK] Starting Octoprint Daemon: Octoprint)
But the octoprint UI doesnātā load.
The funny thing is, one of your earlier versions (I think it was the second) worked! IĀ“ll retry that oneā¦
Check the logs. Itll tell you whats not workin. I can then fix it up so nobody else has issues
Im not near computer but i think logs are in /config/oprint/logs or /sdcard/config/logs. Something like that. Maybe someone else can confirm
@waffles : Could you share your marlin 1.1.0.22.
I installed your last firmware 1.8.5, it seems to work but I didnāt print yet because I need to tweak temperature script for my zimboardā¦
I tried to update octoprint to 1.3.0 but it failed.
āUpdate failed!
The update did not finish successfully. Please consult the log for details.ā
I donāt know where to find Logs
You can find my marlin on github forked from jpods
For 1.3.0, you need to be in rw. I havnt tried yetā¦ I can do another relaese bit theres not too much fixes in it. I guess i can make sure next versjons are more easily updatable
I suppose i can also write up some diagnostics page for folksā¦
Thank you, I easily get your marlin 1.1.0.22.
For reference, here are the logs:
/sdcard/conf/logs/octoprint.log
Everything works here with v1.8.5. BUT the nozzle on the cassette. broke on the first print so I printed a new one and that one broke also . Then I noticed the wrong top motor is feeding I had to switch the stepper leads . Now just have to disassemble the hot end feeder to clear the jamb it caused.
Iām having difficulties with octoprint and I donāt know if it is my own ignorance (never used octoprint before, only cura) on a cheap machine.
I initially tried the use trick and managed to mess up my port and couldnāt manage to solder another one on. So that is physically removed. But when I log into Octoprint, I load up my stl file and go to click the slice button but it is grayed out.
I can control the Zim with the controls and the webcam works, I tried setting Repitier up and it said it couldnāt connect. Ive tried looking through this forum for settings like many posts suggest but come up short.
I guess the short version is: Should my slice button be gray? Should I have another slicer program? Does my USB issue a problem? Is there something terribly simple I am overlooking or another place I need to look?
Thank you for your hard work. I bought Another Zim when I saw you got this method working Waffles.
Yes, the slice button should be grey.
So, octoprint can be used for slicing, but it needs to be set up, and it only supports a really old version of the slicer. Youd have to compile it for the cubieboard, and slicing time would be slow.
The preferred way is to slice it from stl to gcode on your desktop, then upload the .gcode file to octoprint. I didnt like the idea of being stuck on an old slicer, with no updates ever, in such a fast moving technology. And using a slicer via a webbrowser seemed silly.
Make sense?
If theres enough demand, i could set up slicer on octoprint, but i think the other way is better
Also, an update. It does look like updating to new octoprint isnt working. I can make a new build with it, or i can sit down and figure out why. Looks like it doesnt like the git branch i used, or i missed some pinned version step in building. So, expect a 1.8.6 in next few days for a more futureproof build. Sorry for the hassle. Also looking into exposing a terminal/log viewer from the main zim page for folks who have issues in future, since its really hard to see what youre seein
STL to gcode makes perfect sense! Thank you!.
Again, excellent work!
Great work Waffles
I am new to 3d printing & ZEEPRO is my first printer
I had many issues since last night setting up the printer & converting it to OCTOPrint with OEM hardware - WIFI connection issues are solved now & i can see the OCTOPrint & printing my first model elephant ā I still have few questions
1.How to print with dual heads ?
2.Do we have need additional servos to feed the filament externally if the zeepro filaments are not used ?
3.I cannot see the temperature of the 2nd head ( it says off )
4.will the printer stop printing if the filament runsout
@setiorion
1 - your slicer controls the heads, theres some tutorials around
2 - nope, no more servos
3 - check the section at the top about updating the firmware you need to ssh in and run that command to udpate it manually
4 - nope, unless you install/move the limit switches, or continue to feed from the bottom.
Yea, the zim stock wifi setup kinda blows for some folks. Iāve done it like 20 times and it plays nice with my router (lots of test runs) but apparently some folks have trouble.
Filament loading &unloading problems
Ive been struggling to find a way to unload the filaments as soon as is finish printing & want to change other color filaments
I am using the OEM filament in the cartridges though
There is no way to select which filament to unload & the printer will always unloads right hand side filament though it takes ages to unload it as i end up pulling it manually in the end
It would be great to have 2 options to select which filament to unload & load in the octoprint & if it does exist then please help me out guys
@setiorion
Octoprint is using the load/unload scripts created by @jpod, as seen here:
The left Extruder slider selects, the right one turns on the other. Toggle either one to on and you can click Load and Unload from there.
Octoprint seems to disconnect from wifi after every few hours (server not reachable) & i cannot connect to it until i finish printing & then restarting the machine to reconnect
I have noticed this happening if i adjust temperature & it is going offline very frequently but it does print though
Yeah, Iāve experienced the same thing, it looks like itās crashing. For now, my workaround is keeping the Zim wired to the router (you can do this after the wifi goes down, too, if access to Octoprint is needed).
will do the same until the fix arrivez
GUYS did anyone of u try connecting 2 zims with the same pc & printing from them??
