Wifi problem connection

Hello to all boys,
I have a problem with my Zim. Even if reboot with the reset button, the printer is not the wifi signal appears.

I state that I still use the softwere zim because they are not practical electronics.

In alternatita I would sell my Zim Dual Extrusior for those in need of spare parts.

Who can help me? You can connect via ethernet (I already tried http: // zim / and http: //zim.local/ but does not work)?

Many thanks to those who can help me
Luca

Hi Luca,
Have You tried removing the W-Lan stick from the zimboard (small white USB stick), reboot, then reinstall the white W-LAN stick and reset? Keep an eyes on the white stick, there should be a small blue light inside the stick (shines through the white plastic body). Just to make sure that it is powered at all…
Also, ZIM’s own network is only available a few minutes after the first power-up after a reset. So hurry up searching for the ZIM access point. If this all fails, you’ll have to re-flash ZIM’s software. It’s not a big deal, and we can advise you if necessary. Just let us know…

Thank you so much for your help.

I tried, but nothing. The blue light is on, the wifi dongle works (I tried it on my pc) …

I do not know what to do

Thank you very much for helping.

How do you re-flash ZIM’s software?

Okay, so the best way would be flashing the latest firmware or take the big step to octoprint on the raspberry pi.
Your decision.
The ras-pi version is “future-proof”, but also a bit more work, while the ZIM software is pretty limited and won’t be improved, but is a bit easier to use…

I read the topic of octoprint on the raspberry, but it seems very difficult.

What you need to buy? and I will not need the wifi?

Really, it is easy. You need a Raspberry pi, a microSD card, a USB Cable and you’ll have to remove the cover from the USB port on the back of the Printer.
Oh, and you’ll need a PC which you can flash the SD from. And a couple of freeware programs.
Ras-Pi 2: 35€
SD Card: 4€
USB Cable: 2€

I do not usE WIFI at all, due the RasPi has a LAN Port. And I like cables better than WIFI

If you want to try the firmware first, you may download it from my one drive
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=B2A53EE4BB8C1B66!1971&authkey=!AFCZGgD36q_CDrY&ithint=file%2Czip

you convinced me! I tried to download the file, and it says it does not exist.
thanks a lot

where I find a guide?

Okay, please try this link… https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=B2A53EE4BB8C1B66!2097&authkey=!AMIp1e2y3WmnfcM&ithint=folder%2Czip
I don´t use onedrive very often, so I don´t really know how to share files properly

thanks a lot, but what are the instructions?

I think you did the reset as described in this document ? Normally, it works if you do it exactly as described (10 seconds, then power off an d back on)

Flashing the new firmware is described [HERE]

DO NOT ERASE OR OVERWRITE THE ORIGINAL SD CARD. (even better, you should make a backup of it with the Imaging tool that is named in the documentation for flashing)

thank you so much for your help.

you are very kind

No problem. If you have any problems, just let us know. Most of the problems have already been solved.
If you ever feel that the ZIM software is missing a function, keep in mind that there still is the possibility to switch to octoprint

Hello,
I have a problem in downloading the latest version of the firmware to link http://zimsupport.zeepro.com/support/solutions/articles/5000478058-how-to-re-flash-zim-firmware

where can I download it?

thank you so much

This was the Link to the Firmware when zeepro was still in business. Just use the firmware 1.8.4 that you downloaded from my drive

I just saw … thank you so much right now I try the installation procedure.

thanks for the assistance, you’re a friend

You guys have done great work here, its very helpful.

Your message to Luca mentions checking the WiFi dongle to be sure it is on.
For some reason my wifi dongle is not turning on.

I took it out and plugged it into a PC and the inside light turns on.

I tried pressing the reset for 10 seconds, & notices the blue light on the board turns off at about the ten second mark. Then rebooted.

The next time, I pressed the button for 10 seconds, took the dongle out, then rebooted, reinserted the dongle and rebooted again. Still nothing.

I was able to connect few days ago and almost got a my first decent print from this paperweight.

Please let me know if you have any suggestion for getting the wifi to turn on.

I’m trying to connect once through aim software to retract the filament, then I will try to run through simplify3d, with USB cable…
