Laywood and Laybrick

Has anyone tried printing with Laywood or Laybrick.I would be interested in anyone’s thoughts on using them.

When I have emptied one of my cartridges I will re-fill it and give them a try.

I tried to print with laywood, as I had a sample available and printed two samples of the make 2015 test object “fine_positive_features”.

I have no previous experience with 3D printing or Laywood, but was surprised with fragility of the printed objects regreading PLA. Printed pieces have a worst finishing that PLA ones.
I didn’t go beyond that small experiment, probably need more tweaking and experience

My bigger concern was jamming, and I hadn’t any with the 2 object I printed.

Has anyone tried any other materials? Like metal infused PLA? I’m tempted to support this and get some of the copper just to see if its conductive and if I can get both extruders working I could make circuits in my prints.

I tried a wood filament today bought from reprap.me.

Description :
Wood (>30% Wood fibers) Extruder:220-235° Heatbed:80-110°

2 things learnt :

  • Don’t even try without a heated bed : lot of wraping
  • Unable to print from a refillable cartridge : works way better when feeded from the top

Guess I just have to wait my heated bed now
